Fermi America has secured an agreement with Energy Transfer, one of the largest and most diversified midstream energy companies in North America, to deliver firm natural gas supply to Fermi’s HyperGrid™ campus located outside Amarillo, Texas.
With approximately 140,000 miles of pipelines and associated energy infrastructure across 44 states, Energy Transfer is a trusted resource to deliver firm natural gas supplies to Fermi America’s 5,236-acre campus.
As part of the agreement, Fermi America will connect into Energy Transfer’s pipeline just south of the campus, accessing the natural gas required to better power the future of AI. This pipeline interconnection project is expected to be in service in Q1 2026 and requires minimal capital outlay by Fermi.
“What makes our Amarillo campus one of the top sites in the country for other clean sources of energy is that it was first an elite natural gas site,” said Fermi America Co-Founder & CEO, Toby Neugebauer. “This agreement with Energy Transfer secures the firm natural gas supply necessary to generate our first two gigawatts of clean, reliable power for our AI data centre customers.”
The Energy Transfer agreement furthers Fermi’s critical goal of bringing its significant balance of long-lead gas-fired generation supply chain assets secured earlier this year online, reiterating Fermi’s commitment to actionable timelines and velocity of execution.
Fermi America is pioneering the development of next-generation electric grids that deliver highly redundant power at gigawatt scale, required to create next-generation artificial intelligence. The company combines cutting-edge technology with a deep bench of proven world-class multi-disciplinary leaders to create the world’s largest, next-gen private grid.
The behind-the-metre campus is expected to integrate one of the largest nuclear power complexes in America, the nation’s biggest combined-cycle natural gas project, utility grid power, solar power and battery energy storage, to deliver hyperscaler artificial intelligence.
