OQ Refineries and Petroleum Industries (RPI) will spotlight its decarbonisation journey at this year’s Gulf Downstream Association (GDA) International Downstream Conference & Exhibition (IDCE 2025) in Bahrain, where eight of its technical abstracts have been selected for presentation.
At the heart of OQ RPI’s participation is its four-pillar decarbonisation framework, a model that embeds sustainability into every layer of its operations. The initiative combines operational optimisation, renewable energy integration, process improvements, and flare reduction into a unified approach. Together, these pillars provide a clear roadmap to cut emissions today, support Oman’s 2050 net-zero ambition, and enable OQ RPI to deliver on its goal of a 25% emissions reduction by 2030.
“At OQ RPI, we believe competitiveness and sustainability go hand in hand,” said Hamed Al Ajmi, COO of OQ RPI. “By embedding decarbonisation-readiness, renewable energy, process improvement, and operational excellence into our operations, we are lowering our carbon footprint while working towards future-proofing Oman’s role in the global energy landscape”.
The GDA platform will highlight OQ RPI’s innovative work in decarbonisation-readiness, flare reduction, solar integration, and process optimisation, while also showcasing the local talent driving this transformation. Through training, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration, OQ RPI is cultivating the next generation of leaders who will shape the Sultanate’s industrial future.
OQ RPIs participation at GDA IDCE 2025 reflects its progress and future ambition. By uniting decarbonisation, innovation, and community impact, OQ RPI is helping chart a path where it not only meets its sustainability goals but also contributes as a regional and global model for the energy transition of tomorrow.
