Yesterday, Donald Trump took the oath of office in Washington, in an event held in the US Capitol Rotunda.

“I return to the presidency confident and optimistic that we are at the start of a thrilling new era of national success,” President Trump said in his Inaugural Address. “A tide of change is sweeping the country, sunlight is pouring over the entire world, and America has the chance to seize this opportunity like never before.”

Amidst a day of celebrations, President Trump lost no time before signing a broad range of executive actions to rapidly launch his policies.

Prominent within these policies was a strong ‘pro-business energy policy’. This includes steps to unleash Alaska’s extraordinary resource potential. The relevant Executive Order promises to maximise the development of Alaskan natural resources and to prioritise the development of Alaska’s LNG potential.

The importance of the energy sector within the new Trump administration was further highlighted by a second Executive Order promising a ‘reliable, diversified, and affordable supply of energy’ to power the ongoing development of the American economy. Nor is Alaska the only focus for energy expansion, with a third Executive Order aiming to encourage energy production across America.
